Helen (Vander Zanden) Spencer

Helen Spencer, 86, of Oakwood, died Sunday December 4, 2016. 

A longtime resident of the area and retired business owner, Helen grew up in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Ilona and Cornelius Vander Zanden.

In addition to her parents Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George Spencer; son, Kenneth Spencer; brother, Neal Vander Zanden and sister, Dolores Whitworth.

Helen leaves behind her children Paula Dozetos, Carol Spencer, Jim Spencer and Ann Brown.

Over the years, Helen shared her love for Jesus, of reading and of crafts with her five children, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. And she was a community and church volunteer.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday December 7, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dave Channel officiating.  Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
