Jean (Bailey) Duncan

January 10, 1930 ~ August 23, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old


Jean Duncan, of Gainesville, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at the age of 86.  She was born January 10, 1930 in Homestead, Florida to the late Ernest and Edith Bailey.

She was married for 62 years to Robert (Bob) Duncan who preceded her in death in 2015.  Jean served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1953.

After settling in Miami, Florida, Jean and her husband raised two daughters.  The family moved to North Georgia in 1970 where she and Bob worked at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 11 years.  Jean was very artistic and enjoyed watercolor and oil painting and was an accomplished seamstress.   She could find humor in most of life situations and she loved to laugh.

She will be greatly missed.

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Robin Chopra and Janet Buttram, son-in-law, Winston Buttram.  Grandson, Raman Chopra, granddaughters; Sandi Buttram, and Romila Gunsallus and Romila’s husband Corey Gunsallus.

Funeral Services will be held Friday August 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Rev. Myles Brown and Rev. Steve Fenlon will officiate.  Interment will be at Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens in Blue Ridge, Ga., at 2:30 p.m.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
