Jeanne K Nye

Jeanne Kirk Nye, 89, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA.  Jeanne was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 7, 1925, the daughter of J. Howard and Frances M. Kirk.  She grew up in Springfield, PA, graduated from Springfield High School, and worked five years as Secretary to the Treasurer of Smith, Kline and French, Inc., a pharmaceutical company now known as Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK).

Jeanne married Robert B. Nye, and as a wife and homemaker raised three children, Robert, Cheryl and Debra.  The couple retired to New Port Richey, FL, where Jeanne enjoyed bike-riding and embroidery.  Robert died in 2008, and in January of 2012, after 24 years of life in New Port Richey, Jeanne moved to Lanier Village Estates (LVE), Gainesville, GA.  She was a resident in Village West Apartment #1118.

Jeanne’s hobbies and interests at LVE included knitting, walking, exercise, music, reading, decorating, and attending Vespers and Grace Communion.  She also enjoyed ice cream and watching football, baseball and golf on TV.  She had written that she “enjoys LVE and all its very pleasant people.”

Jeanne had been a member of the Episcopal Church in New Port Richey, and had her eye on joining Grace Episcopal Church of Gainesville.

She is survived by her son, Robert B. Nye of Gainesville, GA; her daughter, Cheryl Eckman or Phoenixville, PA; her daughter Debra Finley of Clifton Heights, PA; her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara K. Scheppman of Newtown Square, PA.
