Margaret Ward Obituary

Margaret Cratin Ward, 94 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday February 13, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 9, 1923, Mrs. Ward was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Benard Cratin.  She moved to Gainesville in 1950 with her husband of 70 years Max Ward.  Margaret enjoyed her family above all things which included her two children Carol and Keith.

She was a member of the Lanier Study Club, Gainesville First United Methodist Church and a volunteer for all children's activities.  She was especially committed to St Jude Children's Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her husband, Max Ward.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bill Lomax; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Susan Ward, her grandchildren, Will and Erin Lomax of Atlanta, Ross Ward, Las Vegas, Nevada and Maggie Ward of Charleston, South Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Clark Ferrell as well as nieces and nephews, Laura and Bob Trice, Donna and Jonathan Pierson and Wick and Paula Ferrell.  Mrs. Ward was blessed with her first great grandchild, Sylvia Lomax of Atlanta.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday February 19, 2018 at the Alta Vista Cemetery.  Rev. Scott Hearn will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Gainesville First United Methodist Church, 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30506,  St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee  38105 or Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
