Mattie Lou (Hix) Pressley

Mattie Lou Hix Pressley passed away on June 25, 2015 following a sudden illness.

Mattie was born on March 30, 1928 in Cherokee County GA. She lived most of her life in Hall County. She was the daughter of the late Lizzie Bell Worley Hix and George C. Hix of Canton, GA.  She worked for J.D. Jewell Poultry Company for over 30 years and also at Belks for over 20 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Henry Pressley; her granddaughter, Jennifer Wright Baird; two brothers, Bill Hix and George Hix and four sisters, Marthie Pressley, Betty Jo Fowler, Emmer Venable and Jeanette Hix.

She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Bearden of Canton and her children; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Vicki Pressley of Gainesville, Wayne and Connie Pressley of Cleveland, Jerry and Janice Pressley of Social Circle; daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Jerry Peck of Gainesville, Rita and John Smith of Gainesville, Sandy and Jerry Roberts of Gainesville; 11 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Burial will be in Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
