​Mrs. Felicia Jackson Burns passed away peacefully on July 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  Born March 16, 1927 in Gainesville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Sallie Mae Holman Jackson and Felix Walton Jackson.

Mrs. Burns was a graduate of Gainesville High School and a 1948 graduate of Sweet Brair College where she majored in French and minored in dance.  After college, Mrs. Burns worked with her Dad in the building material business for three years.  She then moved to Shreveport for eight years and was a member of the Shreveport Junior League.  She then returned to Gainesville for the rest of her life.  She was a very  active volunteer in the Gainesville community.  She was a member of the Gainesville Junior League, The Book Club, the Floramor Garden Club, The Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxilary, a member of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center and member of the First Presbyterian Church.  At the church, she worked with the church needlepoint group which made needlepoint cushions for the church benches, she belonged to a rug hooking group which made a rug for the church and she served on the flower committee for several years.  However, her greatest accomplishment was being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Burns is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jesse DaCausta Jackson and her sister in law, Beverly Burns Ledakowski.

Survivors include her husband of fifty six years, Dr. John Knox Burns, III, daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Burns Sherry and Dr. Jeff Sherry of Douglasville, step sons, Dr. James Doss Burns of Fremont, Michigan, and Dr. John Asbury Burns and daughter-in-law Tina of Gainesville.  Grandchildren include John Dowling Marlow, Timothy Burns Marlow, William Randall Marlow, Matthew Jackson Marlow, Ryan James Burns, Grayson John Burns, Susan Burns Walker (Michael) and John Knox Burns, IV (Mandy).  Great grandchildren include Christopher Burns and Mary Knox Walker. Brothers and sisters-in-law are Felix Walton Jackson, Jr. (Joan) of Gainesville and James Holman Jackson (Cissy) of Cumming.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Burns family and friends will always remember her generous, kind and caring spirit.  She will forever live on in the hearts of many.

Graveside services will be held  Sunday July 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery.  Rev. Shon Peppers and Rev. Richard Evans will officiate.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted and/ or memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 800 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
