Bonnie Y (Waters) Barmore

Bonnie (Waters) Barmore, born on April 21, 1931, in East Ellijay, Georgia to the late Azzie and Boyd Waters, passed away at age 87 on August 18th, 2018. She died peacefully surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

To those who knew her best, Bonnie was pure joy and inspiration. From her love of music and dancing, to the hundreds of slippers she knitted and trays of cookies and cakes she baked and delivered at Christmas, “Granny Bonnie” was always caring for those around her. Nothing made her happier than bringing a smile and laughter to her friends, family, and co-workers. She was a switchboard operator at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for over 30 years, where many people fondly remember her voice announcing evening visiting hours.

Bonnie was the loving wife of the late James “Jimbo” Barmore.  She was preceded in death by her siblings H.F. Waters, J.B. Waters, Eugene Waters, Susie West, Carole Keener, and Betty Williams. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Greenman, Cheryl and Larry Elrod, daughter and son-in-law, grandson Joseph Elrod, and his wife Jennifer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation, which will be held Tuesday, August 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Little-Davenport Funeral Home at 355 Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 22nd at 1:30 pm, at Mountain View Park Cemetery, 410 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
