Eunice, Cathy, and Carol,
Please forgive me...I JUST FOUND OUT! I live in a fog and really don't connect to Gainesville. I think all of you know how much I loved Chuck. He was my favorite boss and a wonderful friend from whom I sought advice quite often. I loved referring to him as my boyfriend, knowing that Eunice always found humor in my reference. Eunice, I will be by soon. Girls, Know how much I love you and how sorry I truly am at your loss.

Other than my own father, no individual had as much influence on my life. Glad I told him that once but wish I had kept in touch. My best to his family. Tom Vandiver

Dear Family - Bobbie and I just heard of Charles' passing. Charles and I were good friends in high school and were fellow trombonists in the band. He was always a straight shooter and a fine gentleman. He was raised by a fine set of parents. All of us will miss him. You can know that our memory of him is of a wonderful friend.

My heartfelt condolences to the Family. I was privileged to play GHS baseball for 'Coach Mac'. He taught and gave the team so much more than just the
fundamentals of the game. He helped shape our future.

Sincerely,
Glen R. Adkins

Mr. McDonald gave me my first chance to teach during summer school when I was still a para-professional. It was so wonderful finally having a space of my own to do what I had gone to school to do! I later taught ESOL when he was over the program, had him in a Master's class at Brenau, and taught with Eunice at GEA. The McDonalds are Gainesville City to me. Rest In Peace, Chuck.

In memory of the coach, teacher and kind human being who has been my life's inspiration. Darrel Baumgardner Class of 1967

Message from Darrel Baumgardner

Coach Mac has been my lifelong inspiration. My career in science was due to his encouragement when he was my physics teacher in high school and as my JV coach he was a tough yet incredibly kind taskmaster who bolstered my self-confidence.

I am so grateful that he was able to make our 50th reunion this year of the class of 1967 and that I could speak with him presonally and thank him for his lifelong dedication to education and youth.

Thank you coach. You will always be alive in my memoried.

Coach Mac,
I owe you more than words can convey...my love of physics, thus career, came from your classroom...in my first UGA college physics class of 40 students only myself and my tennis teammate PASSED...only due to your teaching me principles and math tricks and my sharing these with my tennis teammate who won the SEC that year...you and your love of science reached places farther than you ever knew...you will be remembered and thought of always...Tim Pethel

Coach Mac made science so much fun. His test always had questions with students' names in them so we looked forward to them. He inspired me to go on to be a science teacher and touch the next generation. We worked together at GMS (I was student teaching) and at Brenau. I'll miss seeing him with the group at Longstreet. He was a great human being!!!!
