Jean Jackson Leslie, 83 of Gainesville, passed away on August 1 from complications of a stroke. She was surrounded by her family and friends as she passed into Heaven.
She was a proud graduate of The University of Georgia with a Degree in Art Education. After teaching for a few years, she attended Georgia State University, where she earned a Master in Elementary Education Degree. She taught in Georgia, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Texas as a result of Jay being given responsibilities by his employer that necessitated relocations.
While her interests were many, Jean absolutely loved any fabric, sewing and quilting. As a member and former president of The Hall County Quilt Guild, she supported the guild in the making of 180-200 quilts each year for the children at Eagle Ranch.
She was the daughter of Tuck and Addie Jackson of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and is survived by her husband of 60 years Jay, their daughter Susan of Saint Augustine Florida, son Jay Jr. and his wife Caroline and their daughter Nancy, of Atlanta, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Jean was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church and the Emmanuel Sunday School Class.
Contributions in her honor may be made to Gainesville First United Methodist Church, or Hall County Quilt Guild.
Interment is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 14, 2018 at Fair View Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceville, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Gainesville First United Methodist Church, with Senior Pastor Scott Hearn and Dr. Hugh Cauthen officiating.
