Kathleen Gail "Kathy" Merritt

Kathleen Gail "Kathy" Merritt, 70 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday April 24, 2018 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

​Born in Fair Play, Colorado, Kathy had lived in Hall County since 1958.  She was the daughter of the late Allen Francis and Marguerite Martin Merritt.  Graduate of Gainesville High School , she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education  from Berry College.  Kathy was retired from the Hall County School System where she worked as a teacher.  She was one of the first kindergarten teachers at the old Lyman Hall Elementary School.  Kathy was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law; John and Katey Merritt, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Larry and Marie Merritt, Gainesville; sister, Millie Merritt, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and William Jarrard, Flowery Branch; a number of nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Allen Charles Merritt and Dr. Gary Merritt.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 4, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Thursday May 3, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, Ga.  30542 or Myers Elementary School Playground Fund, 2676 Candler Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30507 in memory of Kathy.
