Mary White Obituary

Mrs. Mary Timberlake White, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at The Oaks at Limestone Nursing Home, Gainesville, Georgia due to complications from COPD and Congestive Heart Failure.

Mrs. White was born on January 19, 1930, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late Charles and Willette Davis Timberlake. She was the fifth of six children. All five of Mrs. White’s siblings preceded her in death.

Mrs. White grew up on Fatherland Street in East Nashville. At a young age she made many friends that she maintained contact with until her last days. She valued these friendships, never missing to send a card or in her later years, make a phone call on their birthdays. On December 24, 1947, she married the love of her life, William Roy White, in Nashville, Tennessee.  As a military wife, she enjoyed the different places she lived and the friends she made along the way. She maintained contact with many of those people and considered them friends for life.

In the early 1950’s, Mrs. White thoroughly enjoyed riding through Nashville on her yellow Harley Davidson motorcycle that she named “Lou Ella.” She was one of only seven women in Nashville, Tennessee at that time that could claim such adventure.

Mrs. White is survived by her daughters Tamra (Doug) Adams of Maidens, Virginia; Patti (John) Mouvery of Clermont, Georgia; son Michael (Susan) White of Kennesaw, Georgia; son-in-law, Mike Griffin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy White in January 2005 and daughter Nancy Lee Griffin in July 2010.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 2511 TN-99, Murfreesboro, Tennessee with visitation immediately preceding the service from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Mrs. White will be laid to rest with her husband at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.
