Sherman Steve Sexton, 75 of Gillsville formerly of Fayetteville, West Virginia passed away Saturday December 1, 2018 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Grayson, Kentucky, Mr. Sexton had lived in Banks County for a number of years. He had served in the United States Navy and had worked as a machinist at Stork-Gamco.
Steve is survived by his wife, Etha Gertrude Sexton; sisters, Patricia Welch and Trenia Wooldridge; sons, Dean Sexton and wife, Shonna; Jimmy Sexton and wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Emily, Whitney, Quinton, and Ashton Sexton.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Pauline Stephens Sexton, and sister, Sharon Renner.
Steve lived simply and loved deeply, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, spending time with family and was a dedicated husband. He will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday December 5, 2018 at Prospect Baptist Church. The Rev. Ronald C. Seabolt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service.
