Mrs. Vera Nell Casey Fletcher, age 81, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
Mrs. Fletcher was born in Cedartown, GA on March 30, 1938. She attended college at the University of West Georgia where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Most of her career was spent teaching first and second graders at Sardis Elementary in Gainesville, GA. Retiring after teaching for 27 years, she enjoyed spending time with her family in Gainesville, Birmingham, Cedartown, and Carrollton. She will always be remembered for her infectious laughter and her loving kindness to family, friends, students, and everyone she encountered.
Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her parents Earl E. Casey and Mary Hopper Casey, and her sister Earline Casey Duffey. Survivors include her husband of 58 years William "Bill" Fletcher; children Debra and John Blackstock, Gina and John Thomas, and Beth Fletcher; grandchildren Zachary Tumlin and his wife Lauren, John Tumlin and his fiancé Heather Coutinho, Madison Thomas, Fletcher Thomas, and Jordan Thomas; great granddaughter Tallye Kate Tumlin; sister Carolyn Bass; brother Joe Casey and his wife Sharon; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
A private family "Celebration of Life" service will be held at a future date. She will be buried at the Shiloh Methodist Church cemetery in Burwell, GA.
