Alan Pilcher Obituary

Alan Futch Pilcher, 71, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, August 7th, 2020. Alan was born on August 1, 1949 in Dacula, Ga to RJ and Rosanna Pilcher, the second of their three children. Alan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda M. Pilcher, daughter, Stephanie Pilcher Stephens, son in law, Scott Gardner Stephens, brother Richard Pilcher, grandchildren Andrew Stephens and Anna Kate Stephens.
 
Alan graduated from Gainesville High in 1968, joined the army and served in Vietnam. He returned home to attend North Georgia College and graduate with honors and in 1981, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta.
 
Alan was elected Chief Magistrate Judge in Hall County where he served for 14 years. He retired from the bench in 1999 to return to private law practice. He and his wife Linda both retired in 2016.
 
Professionally, he served as president of the Magistrate Judges Council for three years and continued to work tirelessly for the continuing education of magistrate judges throughout the state until his retirement.
 
Mr. Pilcher is preceded in death by his parents RJ and Rosanna Pilcher, brother Mike Pilcher, and sister in law Jorene Pilcher.
 
A small celebration of Alan’s life will be held at 2pm Friday, at Little and Davenport Chapel.
