Ann M. Culpepper Obituary

Ann Youngblood Culpepper, better known as Mama, Mom, Granny, or Nanny, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on April 14, 2026. She passed peacefully in her “little cottage,” surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born November 19, 1934, to her adoring parents, Garnet and Carrie Youngblood. She was the second child of six. She adored her parents and siblings growing up. She was a faithful and loving wife to Scott Culpepper for seventy years, loving mother to Wanda Culpepper Scoggins, and adoring Granny to Christa and Clay Cook, Jeremy and Lupita Scoggins, and Carrie Ann and Joel Byers. She was Nanny to five great-grandchildren: Jordan Sherrill, Josiah and Noah Byers, and Sofia and Alexa Scoggins. She was also Nanny to two great-great-grandchildren: Jaxon and Jameson Sherrill.

Her main joy was helping and caring for people she loved. She never worked a public job, but she was the hardest working woman you will ever meet. She planted and kept a full garden at her “little house on the hill.” She was the most loving and faithful pastor’s wife you will ever know. She canned, cleaned, cooked, baked, and kept her home spotless, and took great joy in caring for her grandchildren as they grew up. She visited the sick, sat and prayed with families as their loved ones passed away, counseled and mentored countless women, cooked meals for the broken, and prayed over every person she loved and many people she had never even met.

One of her happiest achievements was when she obtained her driver's license at the age of 50. If you knew her, you loved her. Even in her last days, the caregivers, whom she’d never met before this time, fell immediately in love with her and now mourn her passing with us. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Scott Culpepper; her parents, Garnet and Carrie Youngblood; and siblings Jean Hanley, Mary King, Helen Cape, and Beth Beck.

In lieu of flowers, Granny asked that you make donations to the Sinnerpoint Baptist Fellowship Building Fund.
