Carol "Sue" (Dayton) Turner

Carol “Sue” (Dayton) Turner, 77, of Buford passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at her home.

Sue was born and raised in the Gainesville Mill neighborhood by her loving parents, the late Samuel Fleming and Mary Lou (Adams) Dayton. She graduated from South Hall High School in 1960. After raising her two children, she went to work for, and later retired from, the Muscogee County School District in Columbus, Georgia.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James Turner, her sister, Helen (Dayton) Gailey, and her brother, Dr. Samuel F. Dayton, Jr.

Sue is survived by her son Allen B. Cagle of Lawrenceville and her daughter and son-in-law Teri Marie (Cagle) and Joe McCrea of Upatoi, Georgia. Sue has two grandchildren, Tyler Patrick McCrea and Carson Paige McCrea who affectionately refer to her as “Annie.” She is also survived by her brother-in-law Leon Gailey, her sister-in-law Beth Dayton and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dr. Bill Coates will officiate.

Sue was proud of the law enforcement commitment of her son-in-law Joe and grandson Tyler. While flowers are welcomed, donations may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Youth Homes (Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes, Attention: Development Division, 3000 Highway 42 N, McDonough, GA. 30253)
