Cheiko Hontani

Cheiko Hontani, 93, of Gainesville, passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of August 15, 2018.  She was born in Susami, Japan on February 2, 1925. She married Bob Hontani and then moved to Gainesville, Georgia in 1960.

She was a well-known seamstress in the Gainesville community, still making alterations until the age of 92 when illness curtailed her activities.

Her husband Bob Hotani predeceased her in 2010.  She is survived by her sister, Yoshie Terauchi of Ashiya, Japan.  Her daughter, Emmie Hontani and son-in –law, Bari Gambacorta, of Atlanta.

There will be a private ceremony for family members.
