Clayburn Henry Bird Obituary

Clayburn Henry Bird, born March 6, 1926, passed on to his reward in Glory August 24, 2021.  Clay was one of seven children born to Thomas Price Bird and Lillie Robertson Bird.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers and sisters; wife, Jacqueline Peck Bird; son, Larry Bird and grandson Brian Bird.

Survivors include daughter, Pam and husband Tommy Farr; granddaughter, Heather and husband Matt Wilbanks; grandson, Jeremy Farr and wife Dana; grandson, Lija and wife Heather; great grandsons, Colton, Cooper, TJ, Levi, Deacon; great granddaughter, Amelia.

After spending his childhood on the family farm, Clay joined the Navy during World War II.  At the end of the war, after traveling halfway around the world, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Jacqueline Peck Bird, his wife for over sixty three years.  They worked, raised a family, built a home and founded Bird Chain Saw Co., a business still owned and operated today by family.  Clay spent nearly his entire life less than a ten minute walk from the very house he was born in.  His goals in life were simple, Love God, Love Your Family and Love Your Country.  What if everyone could live so simply?

God Blessed Clay with a long healthy life surrounded by a family that loved him beyond measure and will miss him each and every day.

A private family interment will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Murrayville Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery, now known as Restoration Worship Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one’s favorite charity.
