Darrell (Whiz) Gardner

Darrell (Whiz) Gardner, 77 of Gainesville passed away Monday February 10, 2020 at the North East Georgia Medical Center due to a sudden illness.

Darrell was born July 14, 1942 in Gainesville Georgia to Otto and Fannie Lee Gardner.  He retired in 2002 from the State of Georgia where he worked as an auditor for the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

During his life, he would frequently be found boating, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He loved to be outside in nature and took every opportunity to travel and experience new adventures. 

He loved meeting new people, no person was a stranger.  Darrell always had stories to tell about any situation.  He enjoyed having family around him any chance he could.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Gardner, Gainesville; his son Lewis Gardner, Dacula, and his wife Rebecca; his daughter Donna Winn, Woodstock, and her husband Chris; his grandchildren Andy and Abby Gardner; his sister and brother-in-law Linda and Jack Williams, Gainesville; his brother-in-law Larry Gee, Gainesville; and other numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday February 13, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday February 14, 2020 at the Little & Davenport Chapel.  Services officiated by his nephew Ray Bennett of Columbus Georgia.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to one’s favorite charity in memory of Mr. Gardner.
