Donald Lee Matthews

Donald Lee Matthews,90, passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Gainesville GA.

Donald was born on September 15, 1934 to Wilfred A Matthews and Lucy B (Webb) Matthews.  He graduated from Decatur High School in 1953 and married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Joyce Pursell, on July 4, 1954. 

He was employed at Mueller Co in Decatur, IL for 30 yrs.  After retirement from Mueller Co he and his wife moved to TN.  In TN he worked part-time as a security guard and enjoyed gardening in his time off.  In 1999 they moved to FL with their daughter.  In 2018 Donald moved to Gainesville GA  with his son and daughter-in-law where he remained until his passing.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn, his parents and his sister, Beverly Rose (Matthews) Capshaw.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Carol (David) Kramer in St Augustine, FL. His son, Kurt Alan (Dawn) Matthews in Gainesville,  GA.  Grandchildren, Chad Eric (Melissa) Norman, Lukas Collin (Kristen) Norman, Kelcie Anne Matthews and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
