Doris (Hutchins) Herrin

Doris Hutchins Herrin of Gainesville Georgia overcame old age in the ultimate way on Saturday February 6, 2021.  She loved many people, had a multitude of friends and touched their lives in her blessed 89 years of life.  She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother. 

Doris, a native of Gainesville, graduated from Lyman Hall High School and Business School.  She was a long time member of First Baptist of Gainesville and member of Gleaner’s Sunday School class.  Doris’ career began as office manager and bookkeeper for Ed Travis and B. T Feeds.  Following their closing, she continued her office work at Wallis Asphalt for several years until her daughter, Kaye, was born.  Once Kaye began school, she continued her office work at Southeastern Construction Company and retired from Carnes Construction Company as office manager and bookkeeper. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Harold P. Herrin, her parents Emory Lee Hutchins and Vannie Maness Hutchins, and sister Carolyn Hutchins Grant Waldrep.  Survivors are daughter Kaye Herrin Stanley and friend Dennis Clines, Niece Gail Grant Evans and husband Tommy Evans, sister in law Kay Wallis Herrin, brothers in law Michael Herrin and wife Alice, Jim Waldrep, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is also survived by extended family Thanh, Bethany, Daisy, Eleanor, and Graham Nguyen, Thai Nguyen, Anthony, Natalie, Jacob and Gracie Nguyen and Cole and Reid Doughtery. 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  Rev. Mark Dowdy will officiate.  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing will need to be observed for everyone's health and safety and mask are recommended.
