Douglas Morgan Elrod

Douglas Morgan Elrod, 80 of Gainesville passed away Wednesday November 11, 2020 at his residence.

Born in Franklin County, Mr. Elrod had lived in Hall County for most of his life.  He was the son of the late Rando and Ruth Sorrow Elrod.  Mr. Elrod was self-employed as a poultry farmer and had also worked at Oakwood Auto Auction. Mr. Elrod served in the United States Army, and was a member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Evans Elrod, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Brandy Elrod, Cleveland; daughters, Casey Elrod and Cynthia Elrod, both of Gainesville; grandchildren, Zachary Elrod, Zoe Elrod, Denver Rose, Ethan Kersten and Gavin Kersten; great grandchildren, Camden Grogan and Asher Elrod; siblings; Virginia Collins, Hampton; Nelson Elrod, Gainesville;  Janet English, Dublin;  William Elrod, Jefferson;  and Kay Sutton, Gainesville; A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Elrod is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Ann Cooper.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Shane Turner will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Kinsey officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday November 13 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
