Edgar W. Benefield, age 93, of Hall County, GA, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Edgar was a proud United States Army veteran and served as a Corporal during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Edgar retired from General Motors after 30 years and then retired from his own lawncare business after 37 years. He was a member of the Flowery Branch Lodge #212 F & AM and the Lanier Shriner Club. Edgar enjoyed being a Shriner and raising donations to serve the kids at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. He is preceded in death by his mother, Willie Bell Benefield; brothers, Jack, Johnny and Charles Benefield; and sister, Nancy Smith.
He survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 73 years, Virginia Benefield; son and daughter-in-law, Scott (Deneen) Benefield; grandson, Dustin (Jamie) Benefield; sisters, Sally Maney, Sue Broome, and Sandra Blades; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA, with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
