Elaine Worley Sexton, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in Gainesville, GA on April 27, 2026. Born September 7, 1949, in Commerce, GA, she was the daughter of Lonnie Worley and Geneva Chandler Worley. Elaine had a career in Public Safety for 28 years. She started with Gainesville Police Department for her first 6 years, then transferred over to Hall County Fire Dispatch. While working for dispatch, she served as the Director of Central Communications. She was the first 911 Communications Director for Hall County, and she served as the Emergency Management Director. Elaine was a longtime member of the APCO (Association of Public – Safety Communications Officials) and NASNA (National Association of State 9-1-1 Administrator). She retired from the GEMA (Georgia Emergency Management Agency) as the State 911 Program Coordinator.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley; daughter, Cheri Turk (Arvin); step-daughter, Kristi Simmons; grandsons, Matthew Turk, Hastin Simmons and Brandon Turk (Jasmine); great grandsons, Brantley and Stetson Turk; sister, Maxine Trapnell (Dudley); mother-in-law, Helen Capps; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Julie Worley Lacey and brother-in-law, Colie Lacey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church 2235 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30501 with Dr. Tom Smiley officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
