Ellen Kay Stow, 81, of Gainesville died Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville. A visitation will be held at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. for Mrs. Stow and also for her husband, Emerson J. Stow, who passed away June 30, 2020, age 80.
Ellen Kay “Kitty” (Barnhardt) Stow was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 13, 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Jackson Stow; by her parents, Roy James Barnhardt and Vienna Cass Ireland Barnhardt; and by a sister Judith Ann Barnhardt who died in infancy. Kitty is survived by a sister, Linda “Sue” Barnhardt Maxwell of Port Townsend, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews including: nephew Phillip (Chris) Gohr, niece Jolee Mickesh; niece Beth (Barry) Wiles, niece Laurie (JR) Pereira, nephew David Quimby, niece Katie Quimby (Eitan Yanich); and countless friends.
Kitty and Emerson met and fell in love at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. Later they worked together at their business, Stow Graphic Arts, in Gainesville, Georgia. Kitty and Emerson’s family and friends will always remember the way they loved each other, people, God, beauty, art, and laughter.
