Emily Diane Parks Maloney passed away on Feb. 20, 2026 in her home in Gainesville, GA. She was born on Sept. 12, 1952, in Joan Glancy Hospital in Duluth, the fourth child of Thomas Ervin and Wanda White Parks. She spent her childhood years in Gwinnett County and attended grades one through twelve in Norcross, graduating in 1970. On June 12th of that year, Emily married Gary Maloney, her high school sweetheart. Because Emily lived in Norcross all her young life, she made many lifelong friends.
After graduation, Emily worked for several years at Ferguson Oil Company. Upon leaving Ferguson Oil, she was employed by Master Adhesives, also in Norcross, and soon became vice-president of the company. A job opportunity for Gary led them to relocate to Highpoint, NC. After Gary’s death in 1997, Emily felt fortunate to be hired in an administrative position with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. She was proud to work there and loved her job.
Emily is preceded in death by her husband Gary, her daddy Thomas Ervin Parks, father-in-law and mother-in-law Hubert and Gwendolyn Maloney, sister-in-law Mary Ann Parks, and brother-in-law Stanley Hamilton. She is survived by her mother who will be 103 in April, sister Darla and husband Roy Adams, sister Tricia Hamilton, brother Thomas Parks, brothers-in-law Darrell and Joey Maloney, and good friend Danny Rathbone.
Emily is also survived by nieces and nephews. She and Gary loved them so much! They built a pool in their backyard specifically for them. After a day of fun in the sun, Emily would send them home with “Go Cups” packed full of sweet treats. The kids loved Aunt Emily!
She showed her immense love for her family, friends and neighbors in many ways-- acting silly with the kids, often preparing meals for others, baking dozens of cookies to share, and always willing to mow neighbors’ lawns when they were unable to. Everybody always seemed to love Emily and her outgoing personality.
