Glenn H. Braselton, Sr. Obituary

Glenn H. Braselton, Sr., TSgt USAF (Ret), left our world on January 14, 2020. He was the son of Louis Braselton (deceased) and Jessie Mae Watkins Braselton (deceased). He was born January 16, 1954 in Gainesville. He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville until he joined the United States Air Force in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Bednar Braselton of Murrayville, daughter Leona Miles and Freddy Wolthoff of Lawrenceville, son Glenn Braselton Jr. and Tracy Braselton of Ball Ground, grandchildren Kymberlee Braselton Rodman and Tanner Rodman of Ball Ground, Jessalynn Braselton of Daytona Beach, FL, Madalynne Braselton, Gabrielle Braselton, great grandchildren Ryder Rodman and Kynlee Rodman all of Ball Ground;  brother LH Braselton and Julie Braselton of Fort Wayne IN, brother James Braselton and Jean Braselton of Gainesville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn was a Retired Air Force Air Traffic Controller serving from November 1972 to January 1993. Bases of service included Lackland AFB Texas, Grand Forks AFB North Dakota, Keesler AFB Mississippi, Little Rock AFB Arkansas, Osan Air Base Korea, Shaw AFB South Carolina, Hahn Air Base Germany, and RAF Bentwaters England. He earned the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award, National Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Service, the German Air Force Silver Marksmanship Medal, and an Air Traffic Controller’s Badge from the French Air Force. His military education consisted of Basic Military Training, Apprentice Air Traffic Control Operator, and the NCO Academy. Upon his retirement, Glenn continued to serve his country as a private contractor working for Kellogg Brown and Root in Kuwait and Iraq for over 6 years serving in Air Traffic Control, Camp Operations and Airfield Operations.

Glenn touched the lives of so many people, more than he would ever know. There will be a celebration of Glenn’s life at the Lions Club in Clermont GA on January 25th from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Military honors will be presented and a small reception after.
