James F. “Jim” Mercer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 8, 2026.
He was married to Charlotte Mercer for 44 years. He was a devoted father to his sons, Robert Mercer and Chris Mercer, and a proud grandfather to Katilyn Mercer and Oz Mercer.
Jim was born on August 28, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, and made his home in Georgia for the past 48 years.
Jim retired from AT&T on March 8, 1986, and soon after pursued his passion for craftsmanship by founding Decor Cabinets LLC. After his second retirement, he and his wife, Charlotte, settled in the Royal Lakes golf community, where they enjoyed countless rounds of golf and cherished time with friends and neighbors.
Jim was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville, where he sang in the choir and shared his love of music. His faith and his music were an important part of his life. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his love for his family.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
