James Henry Thomas, 86 of Gainesville died Thursday December 12, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Thomas was the son of the late O'Conner and Willie Mae Henson Thomas. Mr. Thomas was retired from General Motors and had served in the United States Army. He was a Shriner and a member of Murrayville Lodge #30 F & AM. He loved to deer hunt and was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Martha Thomas, son, Matthew (Candy) Thomas, daughter, Melody (Jerry) Armour, son, Stephen (Denise) Thomas, son-in-law, Steve Hubbard, grandchildren, Luke (Callie) Hubbard, Mark (Jessica) Hubbard, Jeremy Clark, Joshua Clark, James Thomas, Terri (Brandon) Palmer, Tyler (Madison) Armour, Cody Thomas, Conner (Morgan) Thomas, great grandchildren, Wyatt, Cason, and Branch Hubbard, Lawson Hubbard, Jay, Aura-Lyn and Micah Clark, Bailey and Brinlee Palmer, Cole Armour, Rhett and Cash Thomas, sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wayne Clark, sisters-in-law, Doris Thomas and Aubrey Thomas. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kim Hubbard, brothers, Hayne Thomas, Melvin Thomas, Earl Thomas, Howell Thomas, sister, Mildred Smith.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cool Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stone will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Rev. Darin Cain and Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Military honors will be held at the graveside. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Sunday December 14, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
