Janice Abernathy Reed

Janice Abernathy Reed, age 64, of Prudenville, MI died Monday, January 16, 2023, in Michigan following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in the Little Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Sims will officiate, with burial to follow at the Amy’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarkesville, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, from 5pm to 8pm.

Janice was born in Clarkesville, Ga. to the late Lawson W. Abernathy and Mamie Lawson Abernathy. She lived most of her adult life in Woodstock, Ga., and retired from the State of Georgia School System as a Media Specialist. She relocated to Michigan in 2019. While in Woodstock she was a very active member of North Canton Baptist Church, and most recently Houghton Lake Baptist Church in Michigan. She was an amazing Christian, Nana, Mom, Daughter, Sister, and friend who will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brooks Reed and Kristin. A sister, Elaine (Michael) Gleason, 4 grandchildren, Levi, Austyn, Brynleigh, and Lawson Reed. 2 nephews, Adam and Blake (Lauren) Stribling, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
