Jerry Brown Moore

Jerry B. Moore, 88, of Burnsville, MN, formerly of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023. 

Jerry was born in Commerce, GA, on May 28, 1935, and graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1954.  As a young man, he served in the U.S. Air Force while working as an aircraft mechanic then maintenance controller with Southern Airways, Republic Airlines, and Northwest Airlines, retiring in 1992.  Keeping busy, he earned his Commercial Drivers’ License and drove passenger vans for hotels.  A gentle soul well known for his expertise; Jerry was also the consummate prankster who made friends wherever he went.  

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley Dean Moore, and by his son Michael (Sylvia) of Burnsville, MN, daughters Deana (Philip) Johnson of San Antonio, TX, and Terry Kjellberg of Farmington, MN, grandchildren Lindsay (Nick) Siegel of Kalamazoo, MI, Christopher Moore of Idaho Falls, ID, Lauren (Memo) Blanco of San Antonio, TX, Angela (Alex) Fotopoulos of Pittsburgh, PA, Mark Johnson of San Antonio, TX, and Allison Kjellberg of Farmington, MN, Great-grandchildren Vincent and Sebastian Blanco of San Antonio, TX, Naomi and Parker Siegel of Kalamazoo, MI, sister Miriam (Ralph) Williams, brother Roger Moore and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Estelle Moore, mother and father-in-law, Johnny and Sallie Dean, sisters and brother-in-law Betty and Calvin Whiting, Doris and Ralph Morrow, and sister-in-law, Shirley L. Moore

Funeral services will be held Saturday September 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Mr. Moore's nephew, Pastor John Moore will officiate the service.  Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
