Jerry T. Evans, born to parents Ethel and Andrew Evans on August 24th, 1935, passed away from complications following an injury on February 7th, 2020 at age 84. He passed away with his family at his side near his home in Gainesville Georgia.
Mr. Evans was born in Hall County, Georgia and spent his early years in the Gainesville area. After meeting Darlene, the love of his life, they married and lived for a short time in Ohio before relocating to Chicago Illinois to work and raise a family. Mr. Evans worked as a die setter at Temple Steel in Chicago for over 40 years. After retiring in 1998 they moved back to Hall County and settled in Gainesville, Georgia. Mr. Evans truly enjoyed visits to Las Vegas and travel to all parts of the world. He enriched his life with family, reading, and especially loved being outdoors.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Hugh Evans and Henry Evans. He is survived by wife Darlene Evans nee Teppo; brother, Steve Evans; sister, Marian Sullens; daughters, Tonya Dunsing (John Dunsing), Rhea Dedmond (Tom Dedmond) and Karla Hoffie (Ron Hoffie); grandchildren, Tara Thompson, Tiffany Covington (Matthew Covington), Shane Dedmond, Connor Dedmond, Marshall Hoffie, Olivia Hoffie; great grandchild Elle Covington, and his nieces and nephew.
Visitation and services will be held the 11th of February, 2020 at Cool Springs Church located at 5000 Cool Springs Rd. Gainesville, Georgia 30506. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with the funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will follow in the fellowship hall directly behind the church.
