Joseph Donald Smith, age 84, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. He was born June 4, 1942, to the late Robert Porter and Ruby Lee Smith. Donald was a United States Army veteran. While in the Army, he served in Vietnam as the Military Police. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA.  Donald enjoyed gardening and feeding the deer. He was a master cabinet maker. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ann Smith; and sister, Judy Smith Walter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Louise Smith; niece, Rachel (Joseph) Bahin; nephews, Richard “Rick” Smith, and Randall (Amanda) Walter; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA with Rev. Franklin Grant and Rev. Darin Cain officiating. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
