Lillian (Shope) Gilreath

Lillian Shope Gilreath, 91 of Gainesville passed away Thursday October 14, 2021.

Born in Belmont, North Carolina, Mrs. Gilreath had lived in Hall County for most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late John Byrd and Roxie Goudelock Shope.  Mrs. Gilreath was a graduate of Riverbend High School Class of 1946,  and was retired from Reynolds Metals where she was an executive assistant.  Mrs. Gilreath was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church.

She loved to travel and also loved gardening, most of all Mrs. Gilreath loved her family and spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her son, Michael Gilreath, Apex, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Steve Rierson, Calhoun, Ga; grandchildren; Brian and Katie Gilreath; Andrew Gilreath; Alex (Rierson) Saville and Brian Saville; Chandler and Alina Rierson; Chase Rierson and Chapin Rierson; great grandchildren, Peyton Gilreath; Wesley Gilreath; James Rierson, William Saville and Aria Rierson; sisters, Estelle Shope, Tucson, AZ and Mary Whelchel, Gainesville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Gilreath is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry Wayne Gilreath and a number of brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Sunday October 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Mike Payne will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
