Lucy (Black) Stowers

Mrs. Lucy Black Stowers, 90 of Murrayville passed away Thursday November 2, 2023, at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

Lucy Black Stowers was born in 1933 in New Holland village near Gainesville.  She moved to Murrayville at age 16, where she lived until 2022, when she moved to be near her family in Marietta.  She was a long-time member of Yellow Creek Baptist church, and dearly loved her church and the many friends she made there through the years.

  Mrs. Stowers was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Burtz Black, her father Toll Black, her siblings Vera Clemons and James (Buddy) Black, her son Larry Stowers, and her husband Winfred Stowers.

She is survived by her son Wayne and his wife Pamela Stowers, her grandchildren Kelly (Greg) Sistrunk, Paris (Abel Alvarez) Stowers, Dylan Stowers, and Jessica (Michael) Barbella, and her two great grandchildren Sophie and Sawyer Sistrunk.

The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday November 9th from 5 until 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday November 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stone will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Mrs. Stowers remains will lie in state at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
