Margaret Yvonne Brown, age 80, passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA on July 22, 2021. She is survived by her son Dwayne, his wife Sophia, daughter Gwen, and her husband Joe. She was a grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Her story spans across the country. She was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, she moved to Fresno, CA as a child, along with her extended family. Once she started her own family, she relocated to Santa Clara, CA through retirement. She later returned to Fresno to be with her mother, and finally to Gainesville, GA to be with her daughter.
Maggie was known to have a big heart—a good listener who cared deeply for others. This naturally led to a fulfilling career as a drug and alcohol counselor, where she could help people when they needed it most. When she wasn’t working, she was living life to the fullest. She enjoyed having fun and traveling, especially to tropical Maui.
Family was the center of her world, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her many grandchildren. Her positive energy was infectious, and a good day meant giving those around her a good laugh. She was always ready to sing and dance, even if it was at the grocery store.
