Mary Edith (Jenkins) Gillespie, 90, of Gainesville passed away Thursday August 20, 2020. Mary was born on August 30, 1929 in the community of Corinth, in north Hall County, GA. to the late Andrew Conrad and Katie Pearl Haynes Jenkins. She was married to her late husband of 51 years, William David “Pete” Gillespie.
Mary retired after 23 years from Union Special, a manufacturer of industrial sewing machines in Norcross, GA. After the death of her husband she went back to work for a while at Black Book, a publisher of books for automotive dealers in Gainesville, GA. She was a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church. She loved to travel and took several trips with her late husband, family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, James, Andrew, Johnny, Rufus, and Eugene Jenkins; sisters, Alice Little and Connice Martin.
Survivors include her children, Delores Bramlett and husband Jim, Lamar Gillespie and wife Roberta, Ronald Gillespie; grandchildren, Becky Smith and husband Shane, Tara Hadley and husband Jeff; great grandchildren, Kayla and Brantley Smith, Erin, Sterling and Mary Jane Price; surviving siblings, Etheleen Hooper, Elsie Thompson and husband Harold, and Fannie Black, along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday August 22, 2020 from 11-2 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Chris Swan will officiate. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
