Melba Louise Lemley, 76, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. She was born on October 10, 1948, in Flowery Branch, Georgia. She was the daughter of Lester M. and Lillie Mae Dover Turpin.
Melba was married to her lifelong husband L.D. Franklin Lemley for 55 years before his death on December 22, 2018.
She was a loving wife to L.D. and was his care-giver during their last years together. Melba loved life and her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially during holidays and birthdays. She loved flowers and gardening, decorating, and taking family vacations to Panama City Beach, FL. She was a constant friend and neighbor to so many.
Melba is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Dwayne Williams of Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Marcie Lemley of Greer SC; and son Kenneth Lemley of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Brittany McMullen and her husband James McMullen of Gainesville, GA; Justin Williams of Gainesville, GA; Dara Lemley and fiancé Spencer Dunn of Dawsonville, GA; Kyle Lemley of Greer, SC; Katelyn Lemley of Simpsonville, SC, and McKenna Lemley of Dawsonville, GA; sister and brother-in-law Rosa Lee and Ken Jordan of Jonesboro, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
Melba was preceded in death by her brothers, Buddy, Carl Emory, Gene, and Jimmy Lee Turpin; and sisters Eleanor Turpin and Ruby Hall.
She will be dearly missed by all of her loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA with Rev. J.T. Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church in Forsyth County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
