Mrs. Augusta A. (Merck) Martin

Mrs. Augusta A. Merck Martin, 88, went to be with the Lord on January 18th, 2020.

Best known as “Gussie,” Augusta is survived by her 3 children (Jim, Kathy, Cheryl and spouses), 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren along with a host of loved family.

Gussie was a graduate of Gainesville High School and earned her master’s degree in education from Brenau University. She taught at Flowery Branch Elementary School until retiring.

After retiring and raising her 3 children, Gussie settled in the Johns Creek area where she remained active with Johns Creek Baptist Church, her family, her community, and volunteered at several regional hospitals. Gussie loved to play bridge with friends regularly in Gainesville, Georgia.

Eagle Ranch was an important mission for Gussie over the years and she would encourage a memorial contribution or any contribution to this great cause.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday  January 25th at 1:00 pm at Alta Vista Cemetery located at 521 Jones St. Gainesville, GA.  Following the graveside service, visitation for family and friends will take place from 2:00-3:30pm at Little & Davenport Funeral Home (355 Dawsonville Hwy Gainesville, GA).
