Mrs. Marilyn Horton Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn McBrayer Horton, 84 of Gainesville passed away peacefully Saturday, March 18, 2023. Marilyn was born in Atlanta and grew up in Cedartown. Mrs. Horton was a graduate of North Georgia College. She retired from Brenau University Department of Mathematics and Science. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband C.S. “Buster” Horton, Jr. and her parents Arthur and Eva Morgan McBrayer.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her daughter and sons, Debbie (Neil) Pittman, Gainesville; Buddy DuVall (Leigh Jones), Braselton; and Bill (Stephany) DuVall, Loganville.

Grandchildren: Mary-Katherine (Nicholas) Drescher, Lawrenceville; Elizabeth (Taylor) White, Dawsonville; Zachary Jones, Washington D.C; Matthew Jones, New York; Lauren Jones, Atlanta; Amanda (Jacob) Baird, Bogart; Maggie (Shea) Kelly, Suwanee; Sara (Brad) Miller, Grayson; Stephen DuVall, Loganville; and Jana Horton (Ryan) Unterreiner, Cumming.

Great-grandchildren: Amelia, Avery and Maelynn Drescher; Maxton White; Annie, Olivia and Noah Baird; Lionel Kelly; Zane Colby and Wakelyn Unterreiner.

Sister and Brother: Leila Hagar, Braselton and Richard (Kathryn) McBrayer, Cartersville.

Stepsons: David (Nancy) Horton, Cumming and Charles Horton, CO.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care provided by the care givers and administration at the Oaks of Braselton. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions in “Memory of Marilyn Horton” be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 404 Washington St NW, Gainesville GA 30501.
