Peter Kite Obituary

Peter Simon Kite, son of Martin and Bobbie Hemperley Kite, brother to Mary Ellen Kite Hernden and Horace Martin III (Bubba), passed away on March 21,2025. Peter was born on June 3, 1968 and spent the next fifty seven years overcoming obstacles and setbacks while focusing on getting and giving as much joy as he could squeeze out of each day.

In his late teens Peter began running and ran the Atlanta Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon twice, he was an accomplished white water kayaker and water skier. After his second kidney transplant Peter then took up cycling and rode from the North Carolina/Georgia line to the Florida State line. When he was no longer able to participate in these sports he took up swimming with his usual gusto.

During his life Peter received three kidneys, the first one from his mother when he was fourteen, the second one from his aunt when she was sixty-five and the third one came from his wonderful friend Kelly Parham. Peter was one of the lucky ones, there are 103 thousand people on the national organ waiting list, 17 of them die each day, while every 8 minutes a new person is added to the list. Think about It.

A celebration of Peter's life will be at the Lanier Hills Church located at 3129 Duckett Mill Road, Gainesville, Ga 30506 on April 12, at 2pm with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Transplant Foundation.

Little & Davenport Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.littledavenport.com.
