Randolph Chandler McCranie

Randolph Chandler McCranie, 80, of Gainesville, GA passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Alta Vista Cemetery.

Randy was born April 5, 1943, at Emory University, Atlanta, GA and grew up in Eastman, GA. He was the son of Edward and Mildred McCranie.

After graduating from Dodge County High School as Star Student, Randy went on to play football for the Blue Hose at Presbyterian College. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity where he made lifelong friendships. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Accounting. He met his wife of 56 years, Lynn, on a blind date in the Fall of 1965. Randy practiced public accounting as a CPA in Gainesville for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville and served on the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospital Foundation as well as President of Chattahoochee Country Club from 1999-2000. He loved golf, snow skiing, the Georgia Bulldogs and the beach.

Preceding Randy in death were his parents, his brother, David McCranie and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jim Collier.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Newman McCranie; daughters, Millie O’Keefe and her husband, Richard of Gainesville, GA, and Laura McCranie Burns of Gainesville, GA; 5 grandchildren, Ben, Charlie and Catherine Burns, Grace and Olivia O’Keefe; brothers Steve McCranie (Corma) of St. Augustine, Florida, Bo McCranie (Jan) of Woodstock, GA,  Dan McCranie (Andrea) of Eastman, GA; sisters-in-law, Bernie McCranie of Athens, GA, Jackie Newman Minaglia (Don) of La Jolla, CA and Nan Newman Christy of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at NGMC Inpatient Hospice for their wonderful care.
