James Ray Truelove, 78 of Gainesville passed away on the morning of April 16, 2026. Ray was born in Hall County on June 24, 1947, to the late Robert Leonard Truelove and Lucy Clark Truelove and was the only surviving twin of three sets of twins. His parents had 1 set of boys, 1 set of girls, along with Nellie Faye Truelove who was his twin sister who passed on Christmas Eve morning of 1947 at 6 months old. Mr. Truelove also had four brothers Ledon Truelove, Cecil Truelove, the late Leo Truelove, and the late Leon Truelove.
Mr. Truelove grew up in rural Hall County north of Gainesville, Georgia. His family worked in sawmills and on chicken farms throughout his childhood and into his mid-20s. On June 19, 1970, Mr. Truelove married the late Lois Elaine Truelove, and they were married over 48 and a half years until her passing on January 16, 2019. Mr. and Mrs. Truelove had two boys, Ray Channing Truelove and Tearle Stanton Truelove, living a full life focused on God, each other, and their children. Mr. Truelove worked for Georgia Chair, Goodyear Tire, Peachtree Doors and Windows, and Mohawk Carpet for the majority of his life, also doing a lot of handyman work and yard work on the side. Mr. Truelove announced his call to preach on February 10, 1971, and reaffirmed his call to preach on July 26, 1974. He was ordained into the ministry on June 24, 1984, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia. After being widowed due to the passing of Lois Elaine Truelove, Mr. Truelove married the late Brenda Diane Truelove on November 29, 2021. They were happily married until her passing on May 12, 2025.
Mr. Truelove set an example for his boys, showing them how to work hard providing for your family and how to focus on your wife providing a loving home and loving her more than anything. He was a dedicated and faithful husband, a gentle and loving father, and a friend to everyone he met. He loved God and he loved people and he was a follower of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Mr. Truelove was preceded in death by his parents Robert Leonard Truelove and Lucy Clark Truelove, his wife of 48 years Lois Elaine Truelove and his wife of 3 years Brenda Diane Truelove, his sister Nellie Faye Truelove, and his brothers Leo and Ledon Truelove, brother-in-law Donald Seabolt, and sister-in-law Wilma Seabolt.
Mr. Truelove had a large family, survivors include his sons and daughters in law - Stanton and Kari Truelove of Gainesville GA, Channing and MaryLynn Truelove of Buford GA; bonus son and daughter in law; Mel and Tina Winburn of Gainesville GA; brothers and sisters in law; Ronald Seabolt of Murrayville, Larry and Diane Nelson of Lula, and Ron and Kathy Lott of Clarksville, TN; brothers, Ledon Truelove and Cecil Truelove; grandchildren and spouses Matt and Callie Nelson of Boston, MA, Alec and Kristen Truelove of Chatsworth GA, Lucy Watson of Boston, MA, Dakota Truelove of Glenwood, IA, Troy and Naomi Alexander of White Sands, NM, Chase and Kiera Parker of Dalton, GA, Max and Aerica Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Ellie Truelove of Buford, GA, Chayse Duckworth of Gainesville, GA, Reagan Duckworth of Clermont, GA; great-grandchildren; Amelia, Kaia, Stella, Harper, Olivia, Riley, Charlotte, Audrey, Jason, Hope, Mason, and Ashley, as well as many other friends and family members.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA with Rev. Johnny Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
