Rev. Mike Gilleland, age 72, of Gainesville, GA passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was born in 1953, to the late Henry and Betty Gilleland. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. Through his years of ministry he pastored, Chicopee Baptist Church as an Associate Pastor, and Head Pastor at Garden Heights Baptist Church in Athens, Apple Valley Baptist Church in Commerce, and Attica Baptist Church in Jackson County. Mike also had joy leading his life group "Together in Faith". He enjoyed woodworking and hunting. Mike loved spending time with his family and cherished the memories with each one. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Gilleland and Rebecca Gilleland; and granddaughter, Abby Grace Collins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Debbie Gilleland; daughters, Brandi (John) Barnes and Haley (Jason) Collins; grandchildren, Mikayla (Michael) O’Connor, Mason (Kali) Barnes, Megan Collins, Ava Collins, Eadyn Collins, and Jessica Collins; great granddaughter, Sadie Grace Forrester; brothers, Mark (Becky) Gilleland and Randy (Barbara) Gilleland; sister, Jeanine (Scott) Holtzclaw; and numerous nephews and nieces; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA with Pastor Matthew Vandegriff, Rev. Stan Bell, and Rev. Kevin Shockley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Poplar Springs Horizon Building Fund in honor of Rev. Mike Gilleland.
