Richard Jerome King of Gainesville, was born May 30, 1943, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday August 19, 2025, at the age of 82 in his recliner while taking a nap.
He was born in Dearborn, Michigan where he grew up on a farm. He always talked about that when everyone was done eating dinner, nothing was left, not even the butter.
In his youth he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cars. Even when he struggled to drive, he still had to buy a convertible BMW. He accomplished a lot in his life including building apartments, a house, and many businesses with his brother, Bob. In his free time, he enjoyed gambling, especially blackjack, watching old westerns, and eating at the Huddle House.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Richard and Eleanor. His brothers, Mike and Bob, and his wife, Loretta.
Survivors include his sisters, Kathy and Carol, his sons, Richard, Matt, and Michael, and his grandkids, Madeline, Breanna, Kaily, Lexus, Kaydence, Konner, Haylee, Lyric, Richie and Bentley.
Services for Mr. King will be held on Sunday August 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a memorial contribution to one's favorite charity in memory of Mr. King.
