Robin Darlene Clark, 68, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on October 6, 2025, peacefully in her home. She was born on October 26, 1956, in Marietta, Georgia. Darlene met the love of her life, Robert Ray Clark Jr., in 1996, and the two were married in December of 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and JD Clackum, Jr.; sister, Wanda Louise Clackum; and brother-in-law, Terry Walton. As a devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great-aunt Darlene will be dearly missed by her husband, Ray; adopted son, Travis Waldrop; siblings, Donnie Clackum, David (Debra) Clackum, Karen Walton, Katrina Clackum, Tracey Clackum; nieces and nephews, Tonya Clackum, Kristi (Neil) Fuller, Bonnie (Tom) Harris, Amy (Allen) Mitchell, Jon Clackum, Julie (Graham) Arp, Laura (Jared) Goss, Kayla (Kevin) Collins, Melissa (James) McGee, Morrissa Nikki (Kaden) Polk, Dominique (Chad) Clackum; and 16 great-nieces and nephews; and many extended family members, friends, and co-workers.
Darlene led a life marked by hard work, practical wisdom, and generosity. Her careful budgeting and frugality allowed her to help others, which she did quietly and often. From an early age, Darlene was mowing the grass, changing oil in the cars, and selling ice cream cones at Dairy Queen; she did anything she could to help her family out. By the age of 17, she began working at Winn-Dixie, where she worked faithfully for 32 years until the company closed its metro locations. She then joined Publix, where she continued working for another 20 years.
Affectionately known as “The Sargeant,” Darlene didn’t let a day go by without pouring her energy into her work and her family. She especially loved spending time working in her yard, watching the Braves with Ray, and helping care for her family, including her great-nieces and -nephews. She traveled across the U.S. with Ray and her family, always willing to go along for the ride. During her cancer battle, she took an epic trip to Costa Rica, checking off a bucket-list destination.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Darlene’s name to a charity meaningful to you. The family will gather for a private celebration of her life.
