Shirley Jean (Ivester) Smith

Shirley Jean Smith, 72 of Gainesville, died Wednesday April 5, 2023.  Shirley was born on April 24, 1950, in Cornelia, GA.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Frances Arnold and Doyle Steven Ivester, mother- in- law & father- in- law, Dorothy Smith and Cecil Herman Smith, grandson James J. Evans ll, sister Francis Sewell and brother Michael Dunnell, brother-in-law, Ricky Smith and sister- in-law, Shelia Bickerstaff and nephew David Bickerstaff.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years William Royce Smith, daughter and son-in- law, Juanita Missi Martin and David L. Abernathy, sons, James J. Evans Sr. and Randall D. Ladd all of Gainesville, Ga. grandsons and wives John & Whitney Tatum of Maysville, Cody & Brooke Tatum of Cornelia, Ga. Jesse & Sarah Griggs of Braselton, Ga, Steven Evans of Habersham Co. & granddaughter- in- law Kaleigh Evans of Cleveland, Ga. 2 step grandsons and 1 step granddaughter, 4 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters and 2 step great- granddaughters. Sister, Marie Dunnell and brother-in-law Harry Smith, aunt, Sue Barreras of Albemarle, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday April 7, from 12-2 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Chip Woodall officiating.  Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
