Shirley Ann (Adams) Doss

Shirley Adams Doss, 77 a lifelong resident of Gainesville was welcomed into Heaven on Thursday, January 14, 2021.  Shirley was born in New Holland to James D Adams and Gertrude M.A. Adams.

A graduate of East Hall High School, Shirley enjoyed the loving and enduring friendship of the “Sloppy Six” until her passing.  The bond between these ladies was inspiring, un-questioning and loyal to the end.

Shirley never met a stranger and would meet them with a warm smile and caring heart. Needless to say, she had many friends. The strength of these friendships was remarkable and provided her family with great comfort during this difficult time.

Shirley was a member of New Holland Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her oldest brother, Allen Adams, her husband Bert Doss Jr as well as her Mother and Father- In- Law, Bert Doss Sr, and Flora Belle Doss.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Louis (Judy) Adams of Lula, Sisters- In- Law, Peggy (Coley) Justice of Athens, Sandra (Derrell) Hughes of Honea Path, SC.  Her children, Krystal Doss Mullins (Darren) of Gainesville and C. Todd Doss, Reston, Va. will carry with them the precious memories of a Mother that always put them first and loved them fiercely.  Her greatest joy however would be her grandchildren, Andrew Doss, Wilmington, NC, Ryan Doss, Reston, VA.   Makayla Mullins, Gainesville and Reed Clark, Gainesville.

Shirley was blessed to have loved and been loved by two wonderful men, Bert Doss, Jr and after Dad’s death, Jimmy Clark of Gainesville.   It was through Jimmy that our family grew to include his sons, Scott Clark, and Ken Clark (Rhonda) Gainesville.  We are quite certain that along with her beloved family already in Heaven, Scott was most certainly there to open the Pearly Gates.

Also left to mourn her are numerous nieces and nephews, the members of her church family, of which she dearly loved, her neighbors that were like family to her and the Rabbit Town breakfast club. 

The family would like to thank NGMC Hospice, Mark Russell, and Mike Taylor for their support.

Mom’s main request just prior to her death was that no service would be held because of the COVID pandemic.  A celebration of her life will be held when possible.  She asked that in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts go to New Holland Baptist Church, 7 Quarry Street, Gainesville, Ga 30501 or Central Baptist Church, 785 Main Street, SW, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 or to the charity of their choice.
