Shirley Roger Carnes

Shirley Roger Carnes, 85, of Clermont, Georgia went to be with our Lord on June 30, 2022 after an extended illness.

He was a deacon at Community Baptist Church for a number of years and then after moving from Gainesville to Clermont, he and his wife, Betty joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Sunday July 3, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  The Rev. Steve Baker will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Carnes is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisha Kay Page, parents Emory and Eula Carnes, in-laws Ralph and Ruby Hayes, brother Tyson Carnes, sister Reba Hill, brother and sister-in-law, Earnest and Rachael Carnes, brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Doris Carnes, and brothers-in-law, Larry Phillips, Joel Hayes, and Ralph Hayes, Jr.

Shirley is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Betty Carnes.  They loved going to the beach and doing yard work together.  Other survivors are daughter Lita (James) Martin, son Allen Carnes, son-in-law Marty Page. Grandchildren and spouses, Bethany (Kai) Ishii, Kellan (Gabby) Martin, Ryan Page, Ensley (Montaega) Harrison, and Alex Carnes. Great grandchildren, Aiden Page, Ava Kay Martin and Oakland Alyse Harrison with two great -granddaughters and a great grandson on the way. Sister, Ruth Lee White, brother-in-law, Grady Hill, sisters-in-law, Peggy Phillips and Frances Oliver, and a host of nieces, nephews and sweet friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 5233 Will Wheeler Road, Murrayville, Georgia 30564 in memory of Shirley Carnes.
