Stanley Lee Thompson

Stanley Lee Thompson, 86, of Braselton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2026, while under hospice care at North Georgia Health System Braselton following an extended illness.

Born on October 10, 1939, at Hall County Hospital in Gainesville, Georgia, Stanley was the son of the late Claude Thompson and Angie Mae Moore. His mother lovingly raised him, and in Stanley’s young adult years, his stepfather, the late Robert Moore came into their lives as a loving husband to Angie and a steady presence to Stanley’s family.

A proud member of the Gainesville High School Class of 1957, Stanley devoted his professional life to serving the people of Georgia. He began his career with the State of Georgia in 1963 and, after a brief break in service, returned in 1968. He retired from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 1994 after a distinguished career marked by integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to justice. In September 1974, he graduated from the FBI National Academy, a milestone that reflected his dedication to excellence in law enforcement. Throughout Georgia, Stanley earned the respect of colleagues and fellow law enforcement officers for his keen investigative skills, sound judgment, and quiet leadership.

On June 6, 1964, Stanley married the love of his life, Dee. Together they shared 62 years of marriage built on faith, devotion, and a deep love for family. Stanley found great joy in traveling, working on the farm, following NASCAR, and spending time with those he loved most. Though quiet by nature, his steady presence, wisdom, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. A man of quiet but steadfast faith, Stanley was a faithful member of Macedonia Community Baptist Church in Braselton. His life reflected humility, service, and unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dee Thompson of Braselton; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Lori Thompson of Braselton; his grandson, Hunter Thompson; his great-granddaughter, Raelyn Thompson; and his younger sister, Charlotte Robinson of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Thompson, Angie Mae Moore, and Robert Moore; his grandson, Jeremy Thompson; and his older sister, Claudette Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery in Flowery Branch, Georgia.

Stanley's legacy is one of faithful service, quiet strength, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
